A Little More About Me

My name is Tahj, and I am a programmer, computer science student and tech enthusiast living in Illinois, where I'm been for about a year. My pronouns are they/them/theirs.

My earliest memory having to do with computers was when I was very young, probably 3 or 4, and my dad told me that the noise the computer makes when you press a key that didn't lead to anything meant you were breaking the computer. I didn't realize that was false until I was a teenager.

I started writing simple HTML in 2014 when I was 12/13 while making themes on my first Tumblr account, but I really got into computer science when I took my first computer science course as a sophmore in high school. The class used python. Before that, my dream was to get my doctorate in mathematics and go into academia (I still kinda want the math degree lol). My computer science class led me to seeing computer science as a possible path for my future. I was one of two femmes in my sophmore year class, and the only femme in junior year.

I started college online in 2020 at Southern Maine Community College as a marine science major, then switched to english, then switched to computer science. Then, I just dropped out. I am re-erolling in November of 2023 at Western Governor's University in their computer science program. I am hoping to complete this degree by the end of my first term, which ends at the end of April.

My interests very greatly, not just within the realm of technology but outside it as well. I am a knitter, and audio producer, a reader (of mostly nonfiction). I like to create things. I like to break things. I just love being alive and being part of a world that has so much to offer.
